This book is the story of Wren. While it’s part of the Dark Hunter series it’s about a were-hunter who is half snow leopard and half tiger. His parents and others “weres” were disgusted by him when he was born because they thought of him as being a deformed freak. No one trusts him because they think he is dangerous and wild, more animal than human. He meets Maggie, the daughter of a senator whose life appears to be the polar opposite of Wren’s. They manage to connect because she feels just as out of place in her world as he does in his. Maggie’s mother was half cajun and never seemed to fit into the white bread wealthy word of her husband.
When the human and were-hunter worlds collide, Wren has to figure out a way to escape those who are trying to kill him for endangering their race and find a way to keep Maggie. It definitely deviates from Kenyon’s storyline of the Dark Hunters but it’s interesting to see more of her shape-shifter world.
The story is set in New Orleans, so for those of you who love that city, you will visit a lot of familiar places. She also gives us a tidbit on what has been happening to Nick Gautier, the squire who disappeared in a previous book. Kenyon’s fantasy world will suck you in and the experience will leave you wanting more. Luckily her next book is coming in a few months. Subscribe to our newsletter and we’ll let you know when!

I loved this book as much as I loved Vane’s story. Wren is definately a unique character. I loved this book a lot because more of the Were Hunter world was mentioned and the cast of characters that were in the book. If you like reading about the were hunters then I recommned this one.
