This is the second paranormal romantic comedy in author Sands Argeneau Family series. Etienne (brother of Lucern) is a successful computer game designer who is being hunted by a homicidal maniac mortal named “Pudge”. Although a vampire, Etienne is incompentent to the extent that Pudge manages to put him in the morgue twice.
Enter Dr. Rachel Garrett who meets Etienne in the morgue of the hospital where she removes a bullet from the heart of his “corpse”. This revives him and he manages to get away without anyone knowing. A week later he shows up again (thanks to Pudge) as a charred corpse that still has a heartbeat. Rachel discovers that he is still alive and tries to save him as Pudge makes a third attempt and she gets axed for her efforts. Etienne saves her by turning her into a vampire.
Rachel (as always seems to be the case with books of this genre) can’t bring herself to believe that she, much less Etienne is really a vampire. She’s not into the whole drinking blood thing, so Etienne has to take her under his wing and teach her the vampire ropes.
This novel is cute and a satisfying read but don’t look for any heavy duty love story here.
