Charlaine Harris: Living Dead in Dallas

This is the second book in the Southern Vampire Mysteries series. The local vamp leader, Eric saves Sookie’s life by sucking poison from her veins after she is attacked by a terrifying creature. So, she can hardly say no when Eric needs her telepathic powers to help find missing vampires.

Sookie goes to Dallas to interview a human who may know what is happening to the vamps. She ends up running afoul of The Fellowship of the Sun (local anti-vamp loonies) and she may become their next victim. Harris’s characters are not only interesting, but believable in this strange world she has created.
