Susan Sizemore: Master of Darkness

Reluctant vampire hunter Eden Faveau thinks Laurent is her new partner in an investigation to take down a local vampire drug ring. Laurent is really a renegade vampire from the Tribe Manticore and he is in the right place at the right time to take advantage of Eden. He needs her computer expertise to hack a laptop that he stole from the Tribe leader, Justinian. In the meantime he pretends that he is Sid Fox, a noble Clan vampire whose desire is to protect humans from evil Tribe vampires. While they are working together, the sparks start to fly and Laurent decides he wants much more from Eden than her computer skills.

Laurent’s true nature begins to show itself (to his dismay) and he discovers that he is not the callous bastard he wishes to be. When Eden is kidnapped by Justinian, Laurent also learns a few secrets about his family, including the fate of his mother, that could change his entire world. When Eden learns the truth about Laurent, he will have to prove his love for her before a tribal war breaks out.

Laurent is a great character because he is a reluctant hero, different from the other vampires in Sizemore’s series. He thinks he wants to emulate his sire Justinian, but his instincts and desires to protect Eden prove otherwise. Fans of the series will enjoy this next foray into Sizemore’s vampire world. The book also includes a sneak preview of Primal Heat, her next sexy vampire romance novel.
