Book Eleven in the Anita Blake series. Anita has more love triangles to deal with including one with Jean Claude and his former lover, the vampire Asher. It seems like Anita is spending more time with her clothes off than on.
She is experiencing terrifying psychic attacks from Belle Morte, the vampiress who made Jean-Claude. Belle-Morte sends Musette to force Asher to return to her. Anita and Jean-Claude cannot allow this to happen and embroil themselves once again in deadly vampire politics.
Meanwhile at her day job, Anita is now a federal marshall but Sergeant Dolph Storr won’t allow her to help solve a serious of gruesome murders. Dolph is suffering from a case of virulent preternatural prejudice and Anita is his convenient target for her coziness with the monsters. A fantastic dark adventure.
