Book Ten in the Anita Blake series. Anita becomes the protector to a group of wereleopards who are in desperate need of a leader, and faces the ultimate bad guy shapeshifter Chimera. Chimera is terrorizing smaller were-packs and trying to take over the local shapeshifter population using brutal violence. Anita will have to employ some tricks that she learned in New Mexico for her to escape alive.
Some great new characters pop up in this story, including a cross-dressing werehyena who is into BDSM. Anita is struggling to control the ardeur, a side effect from Jean-Claude that is forcing her to re-evaluate her sexual morals. The sensuality seriously begins to ramp up in this novel.
