Voted best fantasy novel by Romantic Times. This is the first book in the Hollows series. Cincinnati, Ohio is a modern day fantasy world where humans and “Inderlanders” live and work separately. Inderlanders are all the formerly mythical creatures like witches, vampires, werewolves, fairies, elves, etc. A virus deadly only to humans has unveiled their existence. The Inderlanders live in the Hollows area of Cincinnati.
Rachel Morgan is an Inderland Security (IS) Runner. The IS polices the supernatural stuff that the human-run FIB, short for the Federal Inderland Bureau, can’t handle. She’s sick of her job but leaving the IS is sort of like trying to leave the mob. You usually end up dead. She plans to pay off her former employer by busting the biggest Brimstone dealer in town.
Rachel will need a lot of help from her vampire and pixie pals if she has any hopes of succeeding. Kim Harrison’s fantasy world is amazingly real and the books in the series get better as they progress.
