Morgan DeSilva moves into a old house in Maine and discovers some mysterious journals in the attic. She is captivated by the life story of a vampire called Dante. Figuring the owner of the journals was crazy and likely long dead, she writes screenplays from the stories. Now Dante’s stories have made her rich and famous but she is wasting away from an unknown illness.
Dante finds out that she is exposing his secrets and he must stop her. Yet when he finds Morgan he realizes that she has the Belladonna antigen in her blood making her one of The Chosen. Morgan is having erotic dreams of the man she has written about, making her think he might really be a vampire. Dante is inexorably drawn to this beautiful creature he wants for his own. But he has been alone for so long he’s not sure he can trust anyone with his life. He can save Morgan and himself from their enemies but he must somehow learn to trust her.
