For all you Anita Blake fans, this is the Hamilton’s next novel (or novella I should say) in the series following Incubus Dreams. It’s just a little bite to tide you over until Danse Macabre is released on June 27th. I tried to pace myself but ended up finishing this book in a few hours. Even though I knew it was a novella I was disappointed to open it and see the large type, large margins, and three blank pages separating each chapter. I love Laurell K. Hamilton, I will read anything the woman writes, but I want more, more!
In Micah, Anita goes to Philly to raise a witness from the dead. He croaked before he was able to testify in a big federal trial. Things seem a little sketchy and Anita doesn’t have the whole story. But, as she has learned, those little missing details can get you killed. Micah goes with Anita on the trip since we all know she has “needs” now (as if we didn’t already have that pounded into our skulls).
Micah gets a surprise of his own in the form of a federal agent who was involved in the attack that made him a wereleopard. It was nice to learn more about Micah since we don’t know much about his past.
Anita is still the smart ass we know and love but she needs to get back to work and spend less time in bed. The best part of this book is the excerpt for the next book, Danse Macabre with a revelation so shocking you won’t believe it.

great book. you learn some interesting new facts about micah and his past. you see the relationship betweeen hin and anita developes and some more of her protective walls crumble as she grows closer to micah.
the case she goes to cover for her friend and colleague larry is far from straight forward or easy but as always she gets the job done and the bad guys get what they deserve.
excellent book and i would recommend it to anyone who loves classic laurell k hamilton novel.
