Natalya has been fighting vampires for as long as she can remember. She lost her brother to a vampire hunter and is now completely alone. That is, until she meets a hunter like no other. Vikirnoff is a Carpathian warrior without equal. His power overwhelms and frightens her and she’s not sure if he is a friend or enemy. Vikirnoff has never encountered a creature like Natalya. She’s a woman who can hold her own against the evil that murders in the night. She can take care of herself and she doesn’t need Vikirnoff to rescue her from the vampires who have been stalking her. But there’s something else different about Natalya that intrigues him. She is strangely familiar and at the same time alien. Vikirnoff is drawn to her seductive and mysterious nature as are some very deadly enemies. Natalya has been alone for so long and yearns to share her life with someone who can understand her. The darkly thrilling Vikirnoff could be the key to her survival or her total destruction.

Dark Demon follows the successful script that Christine Feehan has created with the Dark Series. The two lifemates discover each other and seduction and conversion follow shortly thereafter. What makes Dark Demon more interesting is Natalya. She is a strong woman who can take care of herself. She doesn’t expect the big strong Carpathian hunter to save her and kill the bad guys. She also has some very unique gifts of her own that make her a much more fascinating character. Feehan also brings back many of the characters introduced in previous books continuing the story of the Carpathian race. A unique addition to the book is an appendix with the Carpathian healing chants and a section about the Carpathian language. Feehan also includes audio files of those chants on her website. Over all it was a good (and very long) read. The story will be very familiar to readers of the series.
