Review by Vicky London
Valley of Silence is the last book in Nora Robert’s Circle Trilogy. The final battle with the Lilith and her vampire minions has arrived. The peaceful existence of Geall and all the worlds are threatened. The circle of six must defeat the vampires by molding an army out of farmers, craftsmen, and housewives. Every advantage must be pressed if they are to succeed.
Moira has ascended the throne as the new Queen of Geall. She is struggling to reconcile her new life with her desires as a woman. She has feeling for the vampire Cian that she’s not quite sure of. What she feels when Cian touches her is more intense than anything she has ever experienced. It’s the same for Cian but he knows with the experience of his long years that anything they begin could never last. He would have to watch her grow old and die before his eyes; it’s better not to get involved. Moira has other plans and is determined to experience the passion that is denied her in case they do not survive the coming battle.
Can a human and a vampire find true love as the other members of their circle have? Or are they destined to only a brief passionate affair that will flame out as quickly as the battle? Samhain is drawing near and the “time of knowing” has arrived. The greatest war ever waged, good against evil will determine their destiny.
The Circle Trilogy is a good blend of fairy tale and modern fiction. Valley of Silence very neatly wraps up the story of the circle of six, and of course every fairy tale needs a happy ending. I’ll bet you can figure this one out if you try really hard. This trilogy is a bit of a departure for Nora Roberts who is best known for her suspenseful romance novels. The story is very enjoyable and if you are already a fan of Ms. Roberts you will love this modern fairy tale.

While I am a huge Nora Roberts fan, I was not impressed with this series. I felt as if she were jumping on the “vampire bandwagon” that seems to have come about lately. These stories were typical Nora, with her focusing on characters and their interactions. I felt as if it were too light and flowery for vampire novels.
