Review by Vicky London

Tempted in the Night is the third book in Robin T. Popp’s Night Slayer series. Burned-out detective John Boehler has his hands full dealing with vampires in Washington D.C. Bodies have been turning up drained of blood for months now and he still hasn’t been able to catch the killer. The newest bloodsucker in town is a notorious serial killer that has slipped away time and again. Now that he’s a vampire, his kills are more vicious than ever.

Jessica Winslow comes from a long line of vampire hunters in England. Ever since her mother was brutally murdered by vampires she has been looking for her chance at revenge. A trip to America to deliver a sword to the Admiral Winslow just may be the opportunity she needs to prove herself as a hunter. The only obstacle in her path is the scruffily handsome Detective Boehler. He thinks she’s nutty but cute when he finds her chasing after a vampire with her huge sword. His first instinct is to protect her but when he tackles her and her luscious body is squirming under his he starts to get other ideas. Jessica and John become entangled in a hunt for the vampire serial killer that will take them to the creepiest and darkest graveyards of New Orleans. They will have to confront their own fears to discover a passionate all-consuming hunger for each other.

Tempted in the Night is a continuation of the night slayers story and the chupacabras become more of a central feature in this novel. One of the more interesting characters, the former Navy SEAL Harris, returns seeking the cure for vampirism. Tempted in the Night follows in the same vein as the other books in the series, not that exciting or memorable but somewhat interesting.
