Review by Vicky London

Beneath the Skin is book three in Savannah Russe’s Darkwing Chronicles. Daphne Urban is a secret agent for the government. Originally forced into the job upon threat of death, she’s actually starting to enjoy herself now. Hunting down terrorist and foiling plots is right up her alley. If only things were so smooth in her love life.

Daphne and the rest of team Darkwing’s latest assignment is to prevent a presidential candidate’s assassination. The killer is a ruthless professional only known by one name, “Gage” based on bloody writing left at each kill. An unstoppable shadow, the assassin is dead set on eliminating his target and the team must find him before it’s too late. To catch the killer Daphne must re-enter the secret society of vampires she left behind. The cruelty and decadence nearly sucked her down once before and she can’t allow it’s temptations to take her over again.

Meanwhile, the men in Daphne’s life have her head spinning with indecision. Should she give Darius della Chiesa another chance or attempt to try for true love with the hunky Irish Fitz? There’s also a new guy on the team, a smoldering southerner who is just the kind of bad boy that Daphne likes. As usual, Daphne’s mother is behind the scenes pulling strings and orchestrating schemes that would put Machiavelli to shame. Can Daphne find true love or will her greatest temptation, drinking human blood, destroy everything she has worked hard to build?

Beneath the Skin is another great book by Savannah Russe. The plot is always exciting with twists, turns, and incredibly hot seductions. The Darkwing world of vampires is unusual and interesting with Russe’s unique take on the vampire phenomenon. You can order this book by clicking on the Amazon.com link above.
