Review by Vicky London

Night Rising by Chris Marie Green is the first book in the Vampire Babylon series. Dawn Madison is an out of work stunt woman with an attitude. Living with her mother’s legacy as a Hollywood starlet/sex symbol who died young is not easy. Raised by her alcoholic father Frank, Dawn has learned to take care of herself from an early age. She is drawn back to California when her dad goes missing while investigating the spooky appearance of a long dead child star on film.

Now Dawn is working with her father’s P.I. firm to solve the mystery and find out what happened to Frank. Her new colleagues are Kiko, a little person with dreams of stardom and Breisi, a gorgeous Latina with a serious weapons fetish. Last but not least is the boss who never makes an appearance but communicates with his employees Charlie’s Angels style. His sexy voice has an intoxicating effect on Dawn in some embarrassing and stimulating ways.

In Night Rising Dawn discovers a deadly underground world of vampires and it’s shocking connection to Hollywood. This noir-mystery-fantasy reinvents the vampire novel into a fresh new genre. The twists and turns will keep you guessing until the stunning ending which will have you wishing for book two, Midnight Reign (tentatively set for release in February 2008). If you’re looking for something new and interesting in the vampire genre I highly recommend Night Rising. You can order this book by clicking on the Amazon.com link above.
