Review by Vicky London

Kiss of Crimson is book two in Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series. Tess Culver is a veterinarian who is used to taking care of stray animals. So when a large leather-clad stranger stumbles into her clinic she can’t help but try to save him. Dante is one of the Breed, a warrior in the battle against rouge vampires. In a desperate bid to save himself, Dante inadvertently creates a bond between himself and Tess. Against her will Tess is drawn into Dante’s dark and violent world. The desire they feel for each other is undeniable but the last thing Dante wants is to fall in love with a cute red-headed doctor. He is tormented by visions of his own fiery death and he neither needs nor wants a breedmate.

Tess is in danger, not only from Dante’s enemies but a friend much closer to home. The rouges are turning young vampires to bloodlust using a street drug called crimson. The dealer who created the drug is someone who will pull Tess into his obsessive and dangerous web of deceit. Dante’s desire to protect Tess will bind them with a passionate hunger that cannot be controlled. Tess has been running from her past and for the first time she can share with someone who understands her strange gift. If they want to have a future, the warriors must stop the rouges from creating an army of vampires and Dante will have to figure out a way to keep his vision of destruction from coming true.

Lara Adrian continues the thrills and momentum that began with Kiss of Midnight. The breed warriors are hot, sexy, fighting machines. The story is fast paced and the characters are engaging. With some of the warriors “retiring” from the fight it will be interesting to see how Adrian deals with the shortage in future books. Kiss of Midnight is an exciting book and I highly recommend the midnight breeds if you’re looking for a new series to dive into.
