Hot Spell is an anthology of paranormal passion by four of today’s hottest authors. I picked this book up actually not knowing that two of the stories were about vampires and was pleasantly surprised. Emmy Holly, one of the best erotica authors around, kicks things off with The Countess’s Pleasure set in the neo-victorian world of the demons. Georgiana DuBarry, Countess of Ware is a virgin widow who sets out to find a man to teach her about physical love. She meets a demon exotic dancer named Iyan who captivates her with his erotic skills and knowing eyes. Iyan is the perfect teacher for the carnal lessons she has in mind.
The next story is The Breed Next Door by Lora Leigh. The breeds are men and women created in secret labs mixing human and animal DNA. Tarek Jordan is a feline breed just trying to blend in and live a relatively normal life while tracking a trainer who helped torture him in the breed labs. His neighbor, Lyra Mason, blows all his plans to hell with her curvy body and smart mouth. Tarek’s not sure what he likes more, the smell of her arousal when she’s around him or her fresh baked bread. Trouble comes to both of their doors when Tarek becomes the hunted and Lyra is caught in the crossfire.
The third story is Falling For Anthony by Meljean Brook. This story is part of Meljean’s popular demon series. Set in regency England, demons and guardians war with each other while evil Nosferatu vampires stalk humanity. Anthony Ramsdell is a young doctor serving in the Napoleonic wars. One night on a battlefield he is attacked and killed by a vampire. Michael, leader of the guardians offers him a second chance at a different life. He takes it but it means leaving those he loves including his two closest friends, Emily and Colin Ames-Beaumont. When Emily and Colin are attacked by the same vampire who killed him, Anthony is allowed to return. He will have to defend them by finding an ancient relic of power that has drawn the attention of the vampire. Anthony’s feelings for Emily could have him forsaking the lure of heaven itself.
Wrapping things up is Shiloh Walker’s The Blood Kiss. The child of a vampire, Julianna Capiet, is abducted by the werewolf king, Roman Montgomery in retaliation for the capture and torture of his brother. Roman is instantly captivated the first time he sees Juliana not knowing at the time that her father is a powerful master vampire. She plays right into Roman’s plans to rescue his brother and conveniently take revenge on his enemy. Julianna’s abductor quickly becomes her protector when her father declares a blood price on her. As male vampires race to claim the right to breed with her she discovers a passion she never knew existed with the sexy alpha werewolf. Claiming her for himself will be the most pleasurable and dangerous experience of Roman’s life.
Hot Spell is the perfect title for this red-hot collection of stories. The passion is off the charts with these alpha males and the lucky women who love them.
