Don’t Talk Back to Your Vampire is the second book in Michele Bardsley’s Broken Heart, Oklahoma vampire series. Ever since a sick vampire bit a bunch of parents in Broken Heart the town has become a place where PTA meetings are held at midnight. Eva LeRoy, town librarian and single parent is one of the newly turned vampires. Not much has changed in her parenting style now that she’s a creature of the night. Even her teenage daughter seems to be okay with her Mom’s new liquid lifestyle.

Eva is willing to look at the bright side, at least she doesn’t have cellulite or crows feet anymore. Even though it means she has to sleep in the basement of her home that doubles as the town library. She’s also willing to forgive the vampire who killed her, Lorcan O’Halloran. Admittedly it wasn’t really his fault since he was sick from a virus at the time. Lorcan is having trouble forgiving himself however, moping and brooding around town. Eva never thought she was one to be a sucker for the dark, depressed, Irish type but she’s drawn to Lorcan. Falling for the vampire who killed her was definitely not in the plan.

With the changes afoot in Broken Heart, a new set of problems arise including feral vampires, gypsies, and her daughter’s new boyfriend who also happens to be a vampire hunter. Not to mention her beloved library is going to be moved closer into town. One benefit is Eva sharing her librarian duties with the gorgeous Lorcan. It’s not just the books making her undead heart beat a little faster.

Don’t Talk Back to Your Vampire
is a funny, quirky novel that defies categorization. It’s a comedy, but also a drama and of course a love story. Bardsley brings her signature devious sense of humor to this new tale of vampire love. Don’t forget to read the hilarious forward from Jessica Matthews O’Halloran, heroine of her first Broken Heart book, I’m the Vampire, That’s Why.
