Blood Drive is book two in Jeanne C. Stein’s Anna Strong vampire series. Anna Strong is a bounty-hunter who was attacked one night and changed into a vampire. Now she’s struggling to find her place in the undead society of San Diego while attempting to continue her human relationships.

Anna’s life becomes even more complicated when she discovers that the brother she lost long ago may have had a daughter. Now that daughter is a runaway teen who may be in grave danger. There are some very dangerous people after the girl but they didn’t count on someone like Anna. Her superhuman strength and near invincibility don’t seem so much of a curse when she can use them to track down human predators. They’re about to learn Anna is one bounty-hunter you don’t want to mess with.

Stein’s Anna Strong books are a really great series. Anna’s strengths and weaknesses make for a very compelling character. Stein really puts you in her head as she fumbles her way through a new life and the heartbreaking choices she will have to make. She also introduces new supernatural characters and a glimpse into a secret underground organization. This is a pretty cool urban fantasy series that will appeal to fans of Patricia Brigg’s Mercy Thompson series.
