So, I’m curious what everyone thinks about the new vampire show Moonlight. I finally got a chance to watch it and I think it has a lot of potential. It’s verging a little bit on cheesy with the melodramatic music and characters that are a bit over the top. But, cheesy can be good as any one who loves Buffy can tell you. I think I’ll put this one on my Tivo season pass and reserve judgment for now. By the way, did anyone else think that Mick St. John looks a bit like Jon Stewart? I’m just sayin….
Anyway, if you had a chance to see it I’d love to hear your thoughts. Leave a comment and I’ll pick three people to send a free book. I’ve got Vampire Diaries #1: The Awakening by L.J. Smith, Renfield
by Barbara Hambly, and The Horror in the Museum
by H.P. Lovecraft. Comment by October 15th, 2007.
If you missed it you can watch the full episode online.
Cheers,

I thought that Moonlight was good for the most part. I don’t really like the actress that plays Beth. She is kind of fake and cheesy (like you said). But Mick is great to look at and not a bad actor. I am anxious to see the next one, hopefully it will be better than the first one. I watched Buffy every Tuesday night when it was on and I am extremely excited about Moonlight. I hope my expectations are not too high!!!

I agree it dies have a small amount of cheese factor. BY the end of the show though is got alot better. I LOVED Mick’s best friend. he had great one liners and I chuckled more than once….

I was pleasantly surprised by Moonlight. I really enjoyed the character interaction and the mystery of the “vampire” murder. I liked how he really knew her from when she was little, by being the PI who found her when she was kidnapped. I look forward to future episodes and more character development.

I thought it was real good, and they need to have everyone watch so they dont take it off, like they did Dresden Files or Blade.
Thanks Charlotte Parker

I really liked it and I hope it gets good ratings. There are a lot of things they can cover and I hope they will keep it on at a decent time and day. It seems like every show they put on like this gets cancelled.

My daughter and I watched it and we both like it. She is 13 and thinks Mick is “Really Hot Mom!”. I think the only thing I didn’t like about it was that it was just a bit too obvious that the show was not given too much money–basically the car scenes were horrible–it was so plain to see that it was a fake car scene. Other than that, it was pretty good. We have it set to record on the DVR and plan to keep watching — it is a great Friday night for us with Ghost Whisperer and then Moonlight.

So far I like the show. I agree there are some cheesy spots and the car scenes are obviously fake, but the story line is really good. Mick is wonderful to look at and Beth is good also. Does anyone remember Beth from the movie “Underworld”?
The characters seem to have good chemistry and Mick’s vampire friend has great lines.
I will be a devoted fan. Vampire and werewolf stories where the characters are not just mindless monsters make for wonderful stories.

I am thrilled to see a vampire series come back to TV…I miss Forever Knight and Cliffhangers. It is a little cheesy but I am hoping as it continues, it gains momentum. Regardless, because it’s vampire related, I am glued to the tv set regardless!!

Love it! I watch it every week. I hope that it stays on long enough so they bring the seasons out on DVD

So far I’m enjoying Moonlight. Some “cheese” was noticed, but I think it can get better and hope CBS gives it a shot. I tape Ghost Whisperer and Moonlight which is a great duo. I do like Blood Ties on Lifetime a little better though. And yes, Mick is HOT!

I love Moonlight!! Yes, the show is cheesy but I like cheesy. So was Buffy, and trust me if they can keep Buffy on for like 7 seasons, they can keep Moonlight on. Not to mention I love the actors. Mick is so hot!! Did any one notice that Beth played Isolde in Tristen and Isolde?

The actress who plays Beth has got to go. She’s too wimpy for her job and makes me not want to care. She reminds me of the blond copy from Angel, who I didn’t like either. Just like Angel, lots of potential here, especially if they drop the Beth attraction/distraction bit.

I really enjoyed it. I’m a big (read: HUUUUGE!) fan of Buffy/Angel/Charmed and when I heard this one was coming out it was an automatic DVR. I’ve seen two of the three episodes so far and I’ve enjoyed it. My heart broke when at the end of Ep. 2 Mick was begging Beth not to look at him or touch him. I’m interested to see what the 3rd episode has in store. Gotta watch it tomorrow.
OK, time for the hormone driven bit. Mick is just (pardon the term) drop-dead sexy. I love the hair, love the eyes, love the slight stuble. Hott. Beth… well, I’m hoping she turns out like Cordy from B/A. Not someone I really like at first and then the character develops into someone you couldn’t picture the show without. Joseph (Mick’s best friend) is funny, but at times he seems a little too coarse - like the writers haven’t yet found his real place in the show and they’re just shoving him into places. Maybe it’s just me.
All in all, I am enjoying it and I’m hoping that the characters will grow and develop like the ones in B/A/C - especially Beth. Here’s to a hopeful new shoe-in for the genre I love so much.
Cheers.

I also agree with the cheese factor but I still like it and i think it has the potential to keep me interested. Beth I kind of like only beocuse i remeber her from “Underworld” and Mick is hot even if i do see the resemblance to Jon Stewart LOL
