If you haven’t heard by now, Summit Entertainment announced that Robert Pattinson has been cast for the part of Edward in the Twilight movie.
Summit Entertainment announced today that Robert Pattinson will star as “Edward” in the highly anticipated feature film production TWILIGHT opposite Kristen Stewart. The thriller-romance, based on Stephenie Meyer’s publishing phenomenon, is slated to begin production in February 2008 with Catherine Hardwicke directing a script by Melissa Rosenberg (STEP UP). Karen Rosenfelt (DEVIL WEARS PRADA) and Greg Mooradian will produce along with Mark Morgan via his Maverick Films banner.
TWILIGHT tells the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan (Stewart) who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father, and becomes drawn to Edward, a pale, mysterious classmate who seems determined to push her away. But neither can deny the attraction that pulls them together…even when Edward confides that he and his family are vampires.
For Harry Potter fans, you may recognize Robert Pattinson as the actor who played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Goblet of Fire.

I am thrilled to hear that Robert has been cast for Edward - thinking about it, that is always how I pictured him (usually sans the wand of course). I believe he will do a terrific job in Twilight.
(PS - it was Goblet of Fire, not Order of the Phoenix. They just used clips from GOF in OOTP.)

I always thought of Robert Pattinson as Edward when I was watching Harry Potter and I also thought I would not be interested in the Twilight movie because I would not really like the casting. All I can say is Wow Great Way to Go and I will be watching. Summit really got it right.
