Bond of Fire is the second book in Diane Whiteside’s Texas vampires series. The events in this book take place before during and after the events of the first book, Bond of Blood. It may sound confusing but the author does an excellent job of overlapping and recapping where needed.
Jean-Marie St. Just and Helene d’Agelet have loved each other from the first moment they met. In a tumultuous 18th century France just before the revolution, the lovers are separated by duty and circumstances beyond their control. Jean-Marie is tormented by a female vampire who controls him until he is saved by his friend, the vampire knight Don Rafael. Helene, a firestarter and secret agent of the British empire is bound in servitude and haunted by family tragedy.
Now Jean-Marie and Helene face and even bigger obstacle. Jean-Marie is determined to kill Helene’s sister Celeste, the Patrona or vampire queen of New Orleans. Celeste has declared war on Don Rafael and the rest of Jean-Marie’s family. He is determined to stop her evil plans, but for Helene it means choosing between family and the only man she has ever loved.
Bond of Fire is a fascinating trip back in history to the dangerous court of France’s the Sun King to Napoleon’s battles in Spain. These star crossed lovers are parted again and again but they have never forgotten each other. Their joining is fiery, intense, and signature Whiteside erotica. This books is exciting, sexy, and highly recommended. You can order this book by clicking on the book cover above. If you haven’t read Bond of Fire pick up that one as well.
