Supernatural investigator Quincey Morris has been hired by a couple who have been experiencing frightening magical attacks in their home. Quincey calls white witch Libby Chastain to help him end the centuries old curse, born in the chaos and violence of the Salem witch trials. To protect the family and end the cycle of revenge, they must track down a powerful black magic witch with a serious grudge. Their investigation takes them on a trip across the country with deadly attacks at every turn. The trail of malice will lead back to where it all began and Quincey will be tested beyond anything he thought he could ever endure.
Vampires have a small cameo at the beginning of the book as a setup to give you an idea of who Quincey is and what he does. The supernatural thrills don’t end there however. The book has a fascinating mix of demons, witches, and the blackest of tribal magic from the African continent. Quincey is also quite an interesting character with his pedigreed family history of monster hunting. Quincey, the man, however remains largely a mystery to hopefully be explored in future books. Overall, it was an thrilling read. If you like the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher you will be sure to enjoy Black Magic Woman.
