Review by Vicky London
Fangland is the story of Evangeline Harker, she’s a journalist for the television news show The Hour (think 60 Minutes). She is given an assignment to track down an Eastern European mobster called Ian Torgu. To her surprise she actually finds the notorious criminal and he agrees to an interview. Evangeline then disappears and turns up months later in a Transylvanian monastery. Back at the show’s office in New York some disturbing tapes of the interview show up along with coffin-like boxes and the sound system has been infected with a faint hissing noise. When Torgue decides to come there himself the show’s employees are forced to confront a threat beyond their wildest imaginings.
I have mixed feelings about this review. The publisher has sent me this book not one, but three times (ARC, hardcover, and now paperback) so I feel like I should post a review about it. The description of the plot above is taken from the back of the book for one reason; I only made it about halfway through this book before shuddering in digust. Fangland was incredibly disturbing to me. The violence and terror was something will have tucked away in a dark corner of my mind appearing only later in nightmares. Obviously, I had a strong dislike for this book but you may feel differently. As for me, DNF (did not finish).
