Midnight Rising is book three in Lara Adrian’s darkly sexy Midnight Breed series. Dylan Alexander wanders into a hidden tomb in the forests of the Czech Republic and discovers a potentially amazing story. It just might save her journalist job at a tacky tabloid whose usual stories are of aliens and bat boys. But when a scary, bedraggled and scarred man chases her from the tomb, she’s not so sure it’s such a great idea.

Rio was a proud strong breed warrior with a beautiful wife. That is, until the day she betrayed the brotherhood and nearly got Rio killed. Now the scars on his face are nothing compared to the scarred soul inside his battered body. Rio stayed behind in the Czech Republic after the brotherhood found the tomb of one of the ancients, the first vampires on earth. It seems that someone has awakened the ancient alien for an unknown purpose. Rio was to blow the tomb up erasing the evidence of their existence and he saw it as the perfect opportunity to end his own misery in the process. But when Dylan finds the tomb and takes some photos, Rio knows that he has to stop this human from exposing the secrets of the breed.

Dylan discovers more than a hidden tomb when Rio tells her that she was meant to be a part of his world and of the choice she must make. Can she really choose between a mother who loves and needs her and warrior who has shown her the happiness true passion can bring?

The breed warriors just ooze testosterone. These are the kind of vampires that are all warrior and a little bit caveman too. They are tough, manly, and yet oh so good at seduction. The kind of guy that is great in fantasy but not so much in reality. That’s what make’s the breed books so good. Throw in a dark tortured hero like Rio and you have a recipe for success. These books are a treat that you don’t have to feel guilty about.
