Review by Vicky London

Twilight Fall is the sixth book in Lynn Viehl’s Darkyn series. Valentin Jaus lost the woman he loved to another and his dream of being with her was brutally ended in a sword fight. He has lived in a fog of pain and regret since then. Liling Haper is a gardner who brings joy to patients in assisted living. Her gifted touch with plants and her ability to ease the pain of patients makes her a popular employee in the care center where she works. The unattainable Mr. Jaus is like a move star to her. He is so beautiful and aloof but his care for their mutual friend and patient Luisa brings them together. Liling and Valentin have an enemy in common and her good deeds have brought her to their attention. When Valentin decides to help her, he sets into motion a sequence of events that will ignite a passion and change both of their destinies.

The childhood of Liling and that of her twin has surprising commonalities with Alexandra Keller and her brother John. Alex and John will discover more about their painful shared history and an illness has results that will leave readers stunned. The book ends on a cliffhanger and a tantalizing glimpse of the next Darkyn novel, Stay the Night featuring Robin of Locksley. I’m not sure if I can wait until January of 2009. Hopefully Lynn will take pity on her fans and give us another Darkyn ebook.

Every time I pick up a Darkyn novel I feel like the books I’ve been reading are kind of like fast food. Viehl’s novels are more like a gourmet meal. I know that’s probably a weird analogy to apply to books but I can’t think of anything closer. They are so good and light years beyond any other vampire series I’ve ever read. I know that some point the series will probably end but I hope that day will never come. Please God… Anyway, if you’ve never read any of the Darkyn books you must pick up If Angels Burn and get hooked. If you are already a fan, Twilight Fall is a must read.
