Review by Vicky London
Touch of Darkness is the final book in the Thrall trilogy. Katie and Tom are getting married even though his werewolf pack is firmly against the idea. Of course, nothing goes smooth for Katie who has had a rough few years fending off the physical and psychic attacks of the thrall. The night before her wedding trip to Vegas, Katie notices an ominous silence from the thrall queens. She can no longer hear the parasites’ constant buzzing in her head and she is quick enough to realize that it means big trouble. Katie barely escapes an act of sabotage and has a puzzling encounter with her frenemy, former NBA star and current thrall queen, Lewis Carlton. The thrall is up to something big and if she and Tom hope to survive they’ll have to outsmart the hive.
Meanwhile, werewolf politics complicate things even more. There’s a new Acca in charge of the Denver pack (who happens to be Tom’s ex) and she’s gunning for Katie. Katie and Tom’s marriage is on the agenda for the next werewolf convocation and it could mean the end of their engagement or exile from werewolf society. The wolves and the thrall vampires have always been enemies and the thrall is winning the public relations war when it comes to how humans view them. Public goodwill has been turning towards the vamps as they have the power to reawaken eden zombies. Katie’s brothers have uncovered some damning evidence that the vampires have another agenda with the zombies. A scary new creation may turn the tide permanently in the vampires favor unless the wolves and Katie can stop them.
The conclusion to this series is heart-warming and wrapped up nicely with a bow. Although the authors do leave themselves an opportunity to continue in another vein if they so desire. The story is pretty much non-stop action from beginning to end and it would have been nice to have some down time between Katie and Tom. It would be cool if the authors did a little online freebie about Tom and Katie after the violence is over. If you’ve read the previous thrall books, Touch of Evil (Thrall, Book 1) and Touch of Madness (Thrall, Book 2)
, you won’t want to miss this conclusion to the series.
