Review by Vicky London

Hmm what to say that hasn’t already been said in the 10,000 reviews already written about Breaking Dawn?. Rather than rehash all the plot details I’ll just give you my straight opinion. I finally read Breaking Dawn this weekend. I was prepared for a horrible train wreck of a book and I was surprised at what I found. The story and plot was completely consistent with Meyer’s work in the previous books. There were a few things that triggered my ick reflex including Bella’s rapid and violent pregnancy along with the whole werewolf imprinting thing. I’ve read complaints on other blogs about the misogynistic aspects of Edward’s behavior but I just didn’t see it. Sure, it’s not really PC that Bella wants to be married and a mother at 18 but whatever. Marrying at an older age is something that is a fairly modern concept and in many parts of this country it is still quite acceptable to marry young. It certainly wasn’t a barrier to my enjoyment of the story.

I liked Breaking Dawn, especially Meyer’s plot device of revealing future scenes in the story through Bella’s dreams. I always find myself wondering how the heck it will be resolved and she always manages to do it in a way that fits without forcing the characters to do something they would normally not do. It’s a always a bit sad for me when a series is over but I found the ending very satisfying. Overall I think it was completely worth reading and if you’ve invested the time to read the whole Twilight series, you’ll want to read this wrap up of Bella and Edward’s love story.
