Review by Vicky London
I can’t even tell you how excited I was to get this book for review. It’s such a cool collision between my two interests of vampires and crafts. It was so unexpected and delightful that it makes me want to learn to knit. I love to sew and know how to crochet but I’ve never tackled knitting. Vampire Knits has some very tempting projects that are incredibly cute.
From the press release:
“Author Genevieve Miller started out as your average knitter: making hats, blankets, and sweaters, and altering patterns when she couldn’t find exactly what she wanted. But it wasn’t until Miller got swept away by Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series that she was inspired to design her own patterns. Vampire Knits reflects her desire to step inside the books she loved so much and interact with them in her own hands-on way — knitting. The appealing and easy-to-knit projects found in the book range from cool sweaters to cozy neck protectors, blood-drop socks to a werewolf hat for your favorite shapeshifter. Gloves inspired by Twilight’s Bella Swan, blood-red jewelry, stylish vampire capelets, and a beautiful diary cover are just a few of the timeless items crafty vampire fans have been clamoring for.
Vampire Knits includes 25 projects by vampire and werewolf fans across the country and beyond. Some are knitwear designers, but many are students, professionals, or stay-at-home moms who love to knit and design. their projects in Vampire Knits make it the first collection of knitting projects for dreamy mysterious vampires, and the fans who love them. Whether you’re team Edward, Team Jacob, or simply a member of Team Vampire, you’re destined to find the perfect accessory to evoke the spirit of the most beloved undead characters.”
The beautiful photos and creative projects will make any crafty vampire fan swoon. This book would make a fantastic gift for knitters. If you’re not a knitter grab it anyway and get a knitting Mom or friends to whip up one of the projects for you.
